AWAKEN
Awaken is a local faith-based non-profit organization whose mission is to increase awareness and education surrounding the issue of commercial sexual exploitation and to provide housing and restoration for its victims.
The two main needs are (as they come up):
Making a meal and delivering to Awaken
Creating and providing gift bags and delivering to Awaken
F.I.S.H. (Friends in service helping)
FISH provides food, training, clothing, shelter, and medical aid to the under-employed, homeless, and hungry within our community, with the objective to train and refer families and individuals so they may become self-sufficient.
RANCHOS FAMILY SERVICE CENTER
Sorting through and organizing donations,
cleaning walkways, painting, landscaping
CARSON CITY FAMILY SERVICE CENTER
Clothing closet organization, dining room
set-up/clean-up and sanitizing, cooking.
EASTSIDE THRIFT STORE
Accepting donations as they’re dropped off,
cleaning and organizing
NORTHERN NEVADA DREAM CENTER
- Food Truck Ministry in Carson City and Gardnerville
- Friday lunch for the staff and volunteers

CITY OF REFUGE
We are a home for women and teens who choose to give their baby the ultimate gift…LIFE. At City of Refuge you will find not only safe shelter in a peaceful rural environment, but a caring community to share life with. You’ll have the opportunity to grow spiritually while participating in daily home life, counseling, life skills training, parenting classes and education. We understand that no one really parents alone. If you are feeling alone, come and find a loving community to help and support you during this exciting and challenging time.
City of Refuge exists to provide you with the opportunity to have your baby while living in a place of safety and security. Coming here is an opportunity for you to consider a new direction in life. Whether it’s preparing to parent, or finding help seeking a loving adopting family, we want to help you say YES to life because saying yes is the most precious gift you can give.
- Building relationships with women and/or teens by taking them on their errands and driving them to their scheduled appointments.
- Making a meal for the staff/residents and eating the meal with them.

Josiah Venture
When I Grow Up
When I Grow Up is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering children out of extreme poverty. Our mission is to ensure that no child in the world needs to live in extreme poverty. Through your donations, children are able to attend school at no cost to them. They receive not only a school uniform but a daily feeding program, textbooks, tutoring and health/social support for free.
